MINISTERS OF THE WORD
CAMBERWELL UNITING CHURCH
REV IAN BROWN
Ian Brown was born and raised in Melbourne within the Methodist Tradition and in 1990 he left a career in teaching to pursue ministry in Uniting Church Australia. He was ordained in 1993 and has since ministered in both rural and city parishes. He commenced his ministry with the Camberwell Uniting Church in 2007.
Most notable about Ian's ministry is that he is a keen and contemporary worship leader and preacher. Each week he brings the world outside into the worship space with his photos and other media.
While at Camberwell Ian has helped the Parish develop a partnership with Uniting’s Asylum Seeker Project - housing and supporting asylum seekers. This has become a major project that continues to develop new community partnerships.
Also Ian is part of the Parish Team committed to developing and running ‘Messy Church’ for children and families who aren’t present on Sunday mornings. His skill and creativity in leading the "Messy Celebration Time" is welcomed by all..
Ian and his partner Margery have two adult children, both working overseas. Margery, Ian and Ian's camera have travelled widely. Ian enjoys walking, gardening and reading. He is also a being a keen cyclist – but not a lycra wearer!
